More about White Magick...
White magick is good magick, used only for beneficial and
constructive purposes; white magick is unselfish magick
intended for the better good of all; white magick may also
be used for spiritual developement. White magick must never
be used for selfish purposes or for revenge. White magick
workings always utilize positive forces and energies.
White magick stands independently of the practitionaer. And it
also stands independently of religion. This is not to say that
white magick (or any kind of magick) may not be joined with
religion. But it is a mistake to assume that white magick *is*
a religion. It is so easy to generalize.
The application of white magick is necessarily limited to
beneficial acts. This does not prevent one from using other
more selfish magick (gray magick for example) at other times for
personal pursuits. Neither does a white magician need to lead a
life of utmost purity, nor even of high morality. The magickal act
may be made to stand apart from one's life. It is only necessary
that his motives be pure and good while he performs the white magick.
White magick is in itself very simple. It is not necessary to
invoke spells of protection, for example, because the nature of
white magick is good, and only favorable currents are used in white
magick.
Karma and White Magick
Some people may call this karma; some may call it the law of
return. It is easy to see how this applies to white magick in
at least one aspect. We must assume that magickal effort produces
results. Whenever the magician exerts a magickal effort,
something happens. If the magick was successful, the result is
exactly what the magician wanted. If the magick was unsuccessful,
the magician may observe the phenomena I call 'missing the
target', or 'side effects', wherein a different, but similar result
to the one that was desired occurs. And sometimes even if the
magick was successful, side effects may occur as an incidental
consequence. If white magick was involved these magickal side
effects, when they occur, are harmless, perhaps even beneficial. But
if some type of aversive magick was involved, then the side effects
will boomerang back and may directly or indirectly cause harm to the
magician. I assert there is really no way to avoid this, and it
is foolish to think otherwise. For this reason it may be said that
white magick is the safest kind of magick.
Reasons to Perform a Magickal Act
The magician should consider why he wants to perform a magical
act. Many times selfish goals are of very little importance in
the long run, and are not worth the magical effort required to
achieve them. On the other hand, the greatest acts of greatest
consequence are often unselfish acts and beneficial ones. White
magick lends itself well to beneficial acts.
Magick in Practice
The study of traditional magick is often complex, and may take many years
to master. Nevertheless, the principles are based upon natural psychic
abilities, and one's success in magick (or lack of it) is linked to one's
natural psychic abilities. Concentration, meditation, memorization of
symbols and words, and repetition may enhance one's abilities somewhat.
However, there are no instant spells or secret keys. Ultimately, magick
in practice is a Western Yoga, which requires years of practice and patience.
Any Act is A Magical Act
In the most general sense, any act is a magical act*, because it may lead
to unexpected extra results. It is impossible to do just one thing. Any
act may bring about unintended consequences. This is even true for a
physical act. A magick act is simply a special case of a general act.
It is very easy to obseve this in our everyday world. And what we may
observe to be true for non magick acts, we hold to also be true for
magical ones.
